Having grown wealthy as bankers to Europe’s royal courts, some of Geneva’s bourgeois families built a series of elegant townhouses, inspired by French models, from the late 17th century through much of the 18th century. This urban transformation radically reshaped the Upper Town’s appearance. The walk moves from one building to the next, introducing the residents and their distinctive architectural features.
