Tours in the Canton of Vaud

This tour is an introduction to Lausanne Cathedral (Notre-Dame), widely regarded as the finest Gothic monument the Middle Ages have left to our region. Two guides will present the cathedral: Ms. Riedener will highlight aspects of its architecture and decoration, while Mr. Vulliamy will discuss its role in history and recount some of the events it has witnessed.

At the foot of today’s village of Avenches, near Lake Morat, once stood one of the great cities of Roman Gaul: ancient Aventicum, capital of the Helvetii. On this tour, we will bring this city back to life through a walk among its still-visible remains.
